Chapter 1, Dawn is Dangerous 1.Sir Philip makes a wall around the common lands that everyone is supposed to own. All the mean in the town to tear it down. Peter is on look-out, he spots Sir Philip coming and whistles. Everyone dashes away and Peter doesn't get far enough so he got shot at by Sir Philip. Peter throws a rock at Sir Philip but misses. 2. Tom: -wants to impress their dad Father: -lies about how dangerous things really are -loves his family dearly Mother: -worries a lot about dad and sons Sister: -spends most of time making butter and milk with mother Peter: -likes to take a lot of risks Sir Philip Morton: -mean ans cruel -wants to take all the land 3. The setting of the story in is the medieval times. 4. A conflict would be between Sir Philip Morton and the villagers for taking their land. 5. The suspense in this chapter was when Sir Philip came and you didn't right away if everyone got away safely. 6. a) England has a lot of enemies in the Northern part of the country. b) The farmer's own their own land and the common lands indefinitely but unfortunately royals or nobles may take those common lands from them. Chapter 2, Escape 1.Peter comes home the next day after tearing down the wall. He goes to school as usual but then at their lunch break he finds out that Sir Philip Morton is looking for him. After he finds this out he races home to figure out what to do. His dad suggests that he leave his home town for a while to let things cool down. Peter agrees and as his parting gift his father gives him 5 shillings, a couple of loaves, cheese, oatmeal cakes and cold mutton to start him off. 2.The setting is at the lake by Peter's grammar school and at his farmhouse up against the fells behind it. 3.Peter: -willing to what he must to protect his family and friends at home His father: -very considerate about Peter must do His Mother :-very upset when Peter must leave but knows its for the best Sir Philip: -cruel and mean as ever and out for revenge. 4.The person vs. person conflict is between Sir Philip and Peter. Sir Philip wants to get revenge on everyone for taking down his wall and the only one he knows for sure who did this was Peter. 5.The person vs. self conflict was at first with Peter about having to leave home. But then he soon realized it was better that way so he could not possibly be able to protect his friends and family otherwise. 6. a) The school systems were grammar schools and you only graduated from that when the teacher thought you were ready to go to one of the nearby colleges/universities. b) The law was basically whatever the noblemen or royals agreed on was right or wrong no one else really had a say in it Chapter 3, Peril at Penrith 1. Penrith was a very crowded but somehow had enough room for everyone on Market Day. It was also very loud and noisy as people tried to sell you things. 2. Peter learned from Tam Burney that Sir Philip was expecting him to go into Scotland and had several of those roads looking for Peter. 3. Peter doesn't have any plans at that point besides trying to get into Scotland by going cross country but Tam tells him that there are way to many rivers to cross for that to be possible.
