Woman in the Theatre

Although not everybody would agree, I want to argue that women should not be allowed to act in the theatre. I have several reasons for arguing this point of view.

My first reason is that women come along with added complications that men simply do not have. For instance, starting in their teen age years, and continuing on throughout most of their life no less, women go through a menstrual cycle that would leave them incapable of performing the arts! If a woman were to have this natural and unavoidable occurrence during the week of the performance, the play would not be able to go on! What if she were the leading role? It would be foolishness to allow such things to happen.

A further reason is romance. As it stands there is very little romance between actors, considering that the majority of men are not homophobic. Letting females into the theatre would allow relationships and romance to take its toll on our plays. Say that two lead actors start dating each other, what would happen if they got into a huge fight and refused to even be in the same room as each other? Let alone act together. It would cause complication upon complication for our directors and the plays themselves. Something the theatre just does not need.

Furthermore, did you know that depressive disorders account for close to 41.9% of the disability from neuropsychiatric disorders among women compared to 29.3% among men? That’s almost half of the female population! Imagine a lead role actress suddenly unable to preform in their play or show simply because of depressive disorder, when studies show that if the director had chosen a man, the actor has a much higher chance of being able to act and do an amazing performance! It simply goes without saying that the man is the better choice. Therefore, some people might argue that women should be allowed in the theatre, I believe that I have proven and shown that women should not be allowed to participate in such events other than as apart of the audience.
